TheStar.com - Sports - Jays shut down Ohka experiment

TheStar.com - Sports - Jays shut down Ohka experiment: "Ohka-mania never quite caught on with the Blue Jays – and, now, it never will.

Tomo Ohka, the 31-year-old, free-agent journeyman whom the Jays took a flyer on this off-season, was yesterday handed his outright release and is, again, a free agent.

A similar fate likely also awaits John Thomson, another off-season gamble that resulted when the Jays were rebuffed by targeted free agents Ted Lilly and Gil Meche.

Ohka signed on for $1.5 million (all figures U.S.) but the Jays could recoup a pro-rated share of the $380,000 major-league minimum should Ohka resurface with another team, as is likely the case."
