It's the surest indicator that interleague play has arrived and it didn't take long for Jays manager John Gibbons, used to playing his games with the designated-hitter, to get in the swing of things last night in a 5-3 loss to the Phillies.

In the eighth inning, trailing by three, Gibbons pinch-hit Matt Stairs for pitcher Brian Tallet. The Canadian homered, then the fun started. The skipper left Stairs in the game in right field, inserting pitcher Scott Downs into the three-hole replacing Vernon Wells. Voila! The classic double switch. And, with eight more games in NL yards, including today and tomorrow at Citizens Bank Park, Gibbons is just warming up."
