In the eighth inning, trailing by three, Gibbons pinch-hit Matt Stairs for pitcher Brian Tallet. The Canadian homered, then the fun started. The skipper left Stairs in the game in right field, inserting pitcher Scott Downs into the three-hole replacing Vernon Wells. Voila! The classic double switch.
