But what followed was a punishing 3 1/2-hour example of how difficult it is to protect early leads in the American League.

The Jays jumped on top of the Cleveland Indians with first-inning solo home runs by Alex Rios, Troy Glaus and Aaron Hill. Then they watched that advantage dwindle, disappear and recede into the distance. In the end, they were defeated 12-4 in a rain-delayed game."
